mercados: sinfonía para los sentidos

¿Os gusta visitar o comprar en los mercados? A mi me pierden los mercados. Experimento la misma excitación y satisfacción que tiene un niño cuando entra en una tienda de chuches.

Es como un bombardeo de sabores, olores y colores… y esta hiperestimulación hace que en mi cerebro empiecen a apelotonarse recetas, ingredientes y  presentaciones.

Visitar los mercados te da siempre la oportunidad de conocer algún producto nuevo. También es una gozada tomarse el tiempo suficiente para poder hablar con los paradistas ya que son los mayores conocedores de su producto y siempre te dan ideas, trucos o recetas. Y finalmente comer en los mercados suele ser un pequeño/gran placer porque los productos son fresquísimos y deliciosos.

Do you like markets? They drive me crazy! I feel the same satisfaction and excitement as a child in a candy-store.

It's like a barrage of colors and aromas… I'm so hyperstimulated that a lot of ideas, ingredients and  
recipes crowd together into my brain.

To visit a market gives you the opportunity to discover new products and if you have enough time try to talk with some of the shopkeepers. They are an inexhaustible source of interesting information about recipes and tips. And finally another little/great pleassure is to eat in markets since all the products are fresh and delicious.

These photos were taken during our visit to the market in Sete (France). We visited Sete and some other nice towns oin the South of France some weeks ago (HERE)

French Postcards: Part II - Postales desde Fracia: 2ª Parte

Ayer os mostré las fotos de la primera etapa de nuestra escapada al Sur de Francia.

Hoy os traigo las de la segunda etapa. Un día con un tiempo mucho más benévolo que el primero de mayo. Bueno... de hecho hizo un día de sol precioso.

Los destinos elegidos fueron Sete por la mañana y Pezenas por la tarde.

Sete es una  ciudad marcada por el mar y por ser el final del Canal du Midi. Famosa por sus ostras (a las que les dimos rendida cuenta en la terraza de un restaurantito junto al canal principal). Es una ciudad agradable y con el carácter que suelen tener todas las ciudades con río o con canal. Sete tiene también un interesante mercado, pero os hablaré de él en un post más adelante.

Pezenas, en cambio es una pequeña población con un centro histórico muy bien conservado. Una auténtica joya con mil y un rincones en los que perderse. Era la ciudad preferida de Moliere y tras visitarla comprendo porque.

Sus tiendas, aunque muy encaradas al turismo, son preciosas y en una librería además encontré tres libros de cocina francesa que me entusiasmaron. Pezenas es un buen destino para una escapada corta como la nuestra si lo que se buscáis en un lugar tranquilo y con encanto.

Ahhhh y aunque no recuerdo el nombre del establecimiento allí comimos el helado más bueno que he comido hasta el día de hoy. Era una pequeña heladería artesana situada en una esquina. Os prometo que cogería el coche y haría todos esos kilómetros sólo por volver a comer ese maravilloso helado.

Yesterday I showed you the first part of the pictures I shot during our getaway in France.

Today I would like to show you the pictures of the second day. It was a perfect sunny day and we visited Sete in the morning and Pezenas in the afternoon.

Sete is a town under the influence of the sea and the end of the Canal du Midi. It's famous for its oysters (which we ate in a lovely terrace by the Canal). It is a pleasant town with the special character that usually have the cities with river or channels. It has a very interesting market, too, but I'll tell you  about this place in a future post.

In the afternoon we visited Pezenas. It is a gorgeous small town with a very well preserved old center. It's a real jewel with hundred of charming corners and little streets to be lost. It was the favorite town of Moliere and now I understand why.

Its shops, although a bit touristic, are cute and I found I fantastic bookshop where I got three interesting  French cuisine cookbooks.

Pezenas is a suitable destinations for a short trip. Don't miss it!

Ahhhhh and I ate the most delicious ice-cream ever!!!!!  Unfortunately I don't remember the name of the shop. It is a tiny shop on the corner of one of the squares in the old center and I would drive all day  long only to eat that amazing ice-cream one more time.
