Aviso a navegantes… los próximos posts van a estar dedicados a nuestro viaje a Budapest y recomendaciones para los que estéis programando un viajecito a la capital Húngara. Cada año intentamos hacer una escapada para celebrar el año nuevo y este año nos decidimos por esta ciudad centroeuropea.
Fue todo un acierto. Creo que es un destino ideal para el periodo navideño, por sus muchos mercadillos en los que además de comprar artesanía también es posible comer y beber vino caliente espaciado (que me encanta), y la decoración de las calles hace que la ciudad luzca aun más bonita.
Budapest es una ciudad monumental pero abarcable, ya que no es muy grande, pero a su vez tiene mucho que ofrecer. Desde el encanto de ser dos ciudades en una (Buda y Pest) situadas a ambos lados del Danubio y unidas por diversos puentes, al Art Noveau de muchos de sus edificios en Pest, su gran oferta balnearia con balnearios del siglo XIX, su mercado central, la oferta lúdica del barrio judío o su estupenda gastronomía.
Es una ciudad en la que es fácil moverse gracias a su red de buses y metro y os recomiendo encarecidamente el bus turístico de la compañía Big Bus (más información
AQUI). No sale nada caro y es una forma sencilla de conocer la ciudad, bien protegido de las bajas temperaturas, a buen precio, con audioguía e incluye además un paseo en barco por el Danubio. Si compráis el ticket de 24 horas os ragalarán un día extra y en ocasiones incluso dos.

A word of warning! The next posts will be devoted to Budapest. We chose the Hungarian capital in which to spend the last days of 2015 and to welcome in the new year.
Our choice was a success. I think that Budapest is a suitable destination during the Christmas season because of the Christmas markets, where you can not only buy crafts and also eat at a very good prices and drink hot spiced wine. The Christmas lights make the city look gorgeous.
Budapest is a monumental city but it's easy to get around because it's not huge and it has much to offer to the traveler: the charm of the two cities (Buda and Pest) separated by the Danube, the Art Noveau buildings in Pest, the wide range of XIXth century spas, the central market, the fantastic variety of things to do in the Jewish quarter and of course, its cuisine. I'm going to write a post entirely dedicated to Hungarian cuisine in the coming days.
It's easy to get around this city thanks to the bus and metro network. My advice is to buy a ticket for the Big Bus touristic bus (more information HERE). It's very easy to visit the main tourist attractions of the city while listening to the audio guide and hop on or hop off from the bus according to you likes or your schedules. The ticket also includes a Danube boat trip. If you buy a 24-hour-ticket they give you an extra day.
