Harta de ver este libro una y otra vez en todas las redes sociales y encontrar reseñas en las revistas de moda y suplementos dominicales me decidí a comprarlo en una de mis visitas a las librerías.
Tengo sentimientos encontrados con él. Soy muy fan de los manuales de estilo y aunque sé seguro que no hay fórmulas mágicas ni reglas infalibles para tener estilo sí me resultan entretenidos y en general suelen dejarme un par o tres de claves que pasan a formar parte de mi "sancto sanctorum" de estilo. Con "Cómo ser Parisina Estés dónde Estés" no acabo de decidirme.
El libro es obra de la super "it-girl" Caroline de Magrait acompañada por 3 de sus amigas, todas ellas miembros del clan cerrado de esa élite francesa a medio camino entre lo hispter y la sofisticación y aunque es entretenido, tiene un tono de impostura que no me acaban de convencer.
Como puntos fuertes os puedo decir que libro tiene notas de humor e ironía y da algunas directrices muy acertadas como que conviene huir de la ostentación y que a veces hay que realizar un gran esfuerzo para que al final parezca que no has hecho ninguno y lograr así un look chic desaliñado que te da ese "je ne sais quoi". Pero también cae en ciertos tópicos y algunas contradicciones que al final me dejan un regusto agridulce y la impresión que este libro tiene mucho de postureo y bien poco de substancial.

I was sick of seeing this book on the social network and in fashion magazines so I decided to purchase it during one of my visits to the book store.
I have mixed feelings about this book. In general I'm a fanatic of stylebooks and although I know that there aren't magic formulas on how to be stylish, I find them very amusing and I always get a couple of interesting ideas of style. But I don't have a clear opinion about this one.
It is the work of the super-it-girl Caroline de Magrait and a troop of 3 of her friends, all of them members of the French elite. They are somewhere between being hipsters and sophisticates. Although the book is fun and amusing it has a certain sense of pretension that I can't stand.
Its strengths are its sense of humor and irony and the photos. There is also some good advice about how to avoid ostentation or to give the impression that you have done it all effortlessly in order to achieve that "unkempt chic" look. Its weaknesses are some of the topics and the contradictions I found that made me believe it was more about posturing with little substance.
